Pakistan has underscored the need to preserve the ceasefire between the United States and Iran to prevent further escalation in the region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar discussed the prevailing scenario during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday.
According to a statement shared by Pakistan’s Foreign Office on X, Araghchi voiced concern over the latest regional developments, particularly Israeli ceasefire violations in Lebanon and directives issued by the Israeli government regarding a possible operation in parts of Beirut.

He also acknowledged Pakistan’s “constructive role in regional diplomacy” and urged Islamabad to continue supporting efforts aimed at reducing tensions and maintaining the ceasefire.
Dar conveyed Pakistan’s serious concern over the evolving situation and stressed that sustaining the ceasefire was essential to avoid the collapse of existing understandings between the parties involved.
Pakistan has remained actively engaged in mediation efforts since tensions intensified following US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.
After helping secure a ceasefire on April 8, Islamabad hosted direct negotiations between the US and Iran on April 11 and 12. Although those discussions did not produce a permanent settlement, Pakistan has continued behind-the-scenes diplomatic engagement to bridge differences between the two sides.
Meanwhile, ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon have complicated efforts to maintain calm and reach a broader resolution between Iran and the US.
