The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that Iran’s enemies underestimated its military strength during the 40-day war.
Yadollah Javani, who oversees political affairs within the IRGC, stated that Iran’s opponents seriously miscalculated the country’s capabilities and resilience.
He added that, as a result, Iran has strengthened its position, while the United States has suffered setbacks and weakened standing.
Speaking to IRNA on Saturday night, Javani said the opposing side believed it could impose a war on Iran and secure a swift victory, but those expectations proved incorrect.
He said hostilities by the US and Israel began with airstrikes targeting senior Iranian officials and military commanders. In response, he stated, Iranian forces launched daily missile and drone attacks against Israeli-controlled areas as well as US military bases and installations in the region.
Javani further asserted that the main objectives of Iran’s adversaries were to dismantle its nuclear program, neutralise its missile defence capabilities, and ultimately overthrow the Islamic Republic.
These objectives failed, leading to a shift in the regional balance of power in Iran’s favour, he stated. He also claimed that Iran now holds effective influence over the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a “legitimate right of the Iranian people.”
