LAHORE – The Punjab School Education Department has announced new guidelines for summer camps across the province, allowing both public and private schools to operate under strict conditions starting June 1.
The department has emphasized student safety amid the ongoing heatwave and issued strict standard operating procedures for all institutions.
The camps will be optional, and students will only be allowed to participate with written consent from parents.
Summer Camp Timings
According to the notification, summer camps will run from June 1 to June 30, 2026, for three hours daily, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Classes will be held only from Monday to Thursday, while Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will remain holidays.
Summer Camp Fees Update
Under the new rules, schools are prohibited from charging any additional fees in the name of summer camps. Private schools will not be allowed to collect extra tuition charges, and government schools are also barred from charging any fees.
Students have been exempted from wearing uniforms during the summer camp period and may attend in light and comfortable clothing suitable for the hot weather. All activities must be conducted indoors, and students will not be allowed to remain outdoors during school hours.
Schools have also been instructed to ensure the availability of clean drinking water, functioning fans, backup power systems such as UPS or generators, and basic first aid facilities to handle emergencies.
The Punjab School Education Department has warned that strict legal action will be taken against any school violating the guidelines, particularly those found charging unauthorized fees or ignoring prescribed timings.
