KARACHI – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has outlined multiple security features of the Rs5,000 banknote aimed at preventing counterfeiting and improving public awareness of authentic currency identification.
According to the central bank, the Rs5,000 note remains legal tender across the country and includes a range of advanced security elements designed to protect against forgery.
The State Bank has also released an educational video to help the public recognize these features.
Key security elements include a watermark featuring the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam in national dress, along with an electrotype watermark displaying the denomination.
A partially embedded security thread runs vertically through the note, showing the number “5000” and appearing as a metallic strip under light, with additional color-shifting effects under ultraviolet light.
The design also incorporates a see-through feature, where parts of the denomination align perfectly when viewed against light.
Anti-scan and anti-copy patterns are embedded to prevent duplication through digital devices.
Other features include a latent image that reveals the denomination at certain angles, and optical variable ink that changes color from green to golden when tilted.
The note also contains raised identification marks to assist visually impaired individuals in recognizing its value.
Additional design components include geometrical patterns, intaglio printing for tactile recognition, and a seven-digit serial number printed in magnetic ink. The Governor’s signature and the State Bank seal are also printed as part of the official authentication elements.
Authorities encourage the public to familiarize themselves with these features to avoid counterfeit currency and ensure secure financial transactions.
