US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has commended Pakistan’s role in supporting peace efforts in the Middle East as optimism grows over a possible US-Iran deal.
After meeting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Washington on Friday, Rubio said he appreciated Pakistan’s continued contribution towards promoting stability and dialogue in the region.
Rubio stated that both sides discussed the importance of deepening cooperation to build a stronger partnership focused on security and economic prosperity for both countries.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the meeting reflected positive progress in bilateral ties, with both leaders expressing satisfaction over the current direction of relations between Islamabad and Washington.

According to the Foreign Office statement, the discussions also covered key regional and international developments.
The FO added that Rubio recognised Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at fostering regional and global peace and stability.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to expand collaboration in areas of shared interest, including trade, investment, security and counterterrorism cooperation.
Both leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Pakistan-US relations through sustained high-level contacts and joint efforts to advance peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
