Islamabad Schools Summer Vacations 2026 announced; Check full schedule

ISLAMABAD – The federal government officially announced summer vacations for all federal educational institutions, including model schools and colleges in Islamabad, bringing major relief for students and families.

According to an official notification, all such institutions will remain closed for summer break from May 25 to July 31, 2026, and regular academic activities will resume on August 3, 2026.

The holidays will not mean complete shutdown. Heads of institutions and administrative staff will continue to report for duty during the break, working daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The notification further reveals that special coaching classes for students of grades 10 and 11 will be arranged throughout June and July, ensuring exam preparation continues during the vacation period.

Lahore Schools Defying Summer Holidays orders

Punjab government has announced summer vacations from May 22, 2026, due to a severe and prolonged heatwave, following alerts from PDMA and PMD warning of extreme temperatures from May to July. All schools were ordered to shut down across the province.

However, several private schools, including American Lycetuff and Lahore Grammar School (LGS), are reportedly not fully complying with the closure orders. In Lahore, a student alleged that the ALS DNK branch is still pressuring students to attend in-person classes despite the vacation announcement.

Some other private schools are continuing limited academic or fee-related activities despite the shutdown directive.

At LGS Johar Town Senior Boys Branch, students were reportedly informed that Grade XI classes will continue until June 10, 2026, with online classes on weekends, and summer vacations starting June 11, 2026. The school’s reopening date is also said to be August 5, 2026, which differs from the government’s official date of August 24, 2026.

The situation has raised concerns over student safety, as temperatures of 42–45°C pose serious health risks, including heat exhaustion and heatstroke, alongside increased stress from continued academic pressure.
