ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to Tehran for the second time in a week, following an earlier visit on May 16, amid Iran and the United States’ impasse on peace talks, the local Iranian media reported on Wednesday.
Pakistan continues its diplomatic engagement aimed at facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States.
The Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that Naqvi arrived in the Iranian capital to hold meetings with senior officials of the Islamic Republic. The visit comes as Islamabad maintains its efforts to support regional diplomacy amid ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington.
The officials and media reports showed that Pakistan has been attempting to play a facilitating role in encouraging dialogue between the two sides. Naqvi’s earlier visit on May 16 was also part of the same diplomatic outreach.
During that previous trip, he reportedly met Iranian officials in discussions focused on easing regional tensions and promoting communication channels between the concerned parties.
Iranian state media, including IRNA and Mehr News Agency, confirmed his latest arrival in Tehran and said he is expected to meet senior Iranian leadership during the visit.
The development comes at a time when broader Iran–US talks remain stalled over key issues, including regional security concerns and Iran’s nuclear programme, while diplomatic efforts continue through indirect and regional channels.
Pakistani officials have reiterated that Islamabad remains engaged in efforts to encourage peaceful dialogue, although detailed information about the mediation process has not been made public.
