LUDHIANA – Inder Kaur, a Punjabi singer and makeup artist, went missing in mid-May after leaving home for a short grocery trip in Ludhiana. Her disappearance led to a police case and investigation naming suspects in the case.
On May 19, her body was recovered from a canal in Ludhiana, leaving her family and fans in shock as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of her death.

Makeup artist turned singer was also famous as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead in canal in Ludhiana days after being reported missing. The 29-year-old had been untraceable since May 13, 2026, and her body was recovered on the morning of May 19, 2026, around 11 a.m.
Her body was identified by relatives and later shifted to Civil Hospital in Samrala for postmortem examination and completion of legal formalities.
The case started after her brother, Jotinder Singh, registered missing person complaint with police. Based on his statement, a case was registered on May 15, 2026, naming Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, a resident of Moga, and his associate Karamjit Singh as suspects.

Kaur left her home in Jamalpur, Ludhiana, on the evening of May 13 to purchase groceries in her Ford Figo car but did not return. When repeated attempts to contact her failed, her family initiated a search before approaching police authorities.
During the investigation, the family said Inder Kaur was acquainted with Sukhwinder Singh through social media, and had known him for approximately three years. They alleged that he had expressed an intention to marry her, but she refused after learning that he was already married and had children.

Her family further alleged that the refusal led to tensions and ultimately resulted in her alleged kidnapping and murder.
Reports cited by local media also claim that Sukhwinder Singh had traveled between Canada and Punjab via Nepal shortly before the incident. The family alleged that taxis were arranged from Moga to facilitate the abduction and that the accused later fled back to Canada through the same route via Nepal after the incident.

Police said investigation is ongoing and that further action will be taken based on forensic and investigative findings. Officials also confirmed that Sukhwinder Singh’s father, Pritam Singh, and his associate Karamjit Singh have been arrested in connection with the case.
Inder Kaur was resident of Ludhiana, and was active in the Punjabi music industry as both a singer and makeup artist. She gained recognition through her songs, live performances, and social media presence.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death amid outrage online.
