KARACHI – Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho on Tuesday said that multiple well-known individuals may surface during investigations into the case of alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky, while urging the public to support law enforcement agencies in efforts to curb narcotics trafficking.
Addressing a press briefing in Karachi, the Sindh police chief said a dedicated task force is being formed to strengthen the investigation and called on citizens to come forward with information and record their statements in court.
He stressed that the fight against narcotics is a collective responsibility and public cooperation is essential for effective action against drug networks.
The statement comes days after the arrest of the accused from Karachi’s Garden area. However, the suspect has denied the circumstances of her arrest, claiming she was taken into custody in Lahore around 15 days earlier before being shifted to Karachi. She is currently in police custody on physical remand and also faces murder-related charges in addition to narcotics cases.
The IGP said multiple cases have already been registered against the suspect, including those filed by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), and indicated that further arrests and revelations are expected as the investigation progresses.
He added that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been brought into the probe to examine financial transactions linked to the case, while the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) will investigate alleged online drug-related activities.
Javed Alam Odho said authorities are differentiating between drug users and traffickers, adding that strict action will be taken against those involved in drug supply networks.
He further stated that over 1,000 suspects have been arrested and around 40 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) have been recovered during ongoing anti-narcotics operations across the province.
The police chief also remarked that the accused primarily resides in Lahore and urged the public not to glorify individuals involved in drug trafficking.
Separately, sources involved in the investigation claim that during initial questioning, the accused alleged paying substantial monthly amounts as bribes to different police stations in Karachi. She is also reported to have claimed involvement in a drug supply network generating over Rs20 million per month, according to investigative sources.
