UNWAVERINGLY anchored in international law and UN Security Council resolutions, Pakistan’s stance on the Palestinian issue remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy.
Pakistan consistently defends the self-determination of the Palestinian populace, advocating for a sovereign, contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 boundaries, with Al Quds Al Sharif designated as its capital. This enduring approach reflects a strategic commitment to international legality and collective morality, resisting transient geopolitical pressures.
Pakistan’s principled stance on Palestine translates into a highly proactive diplomatic strategy at the United Nations, positioning the country as a major bridge-builder for broader Middle East stability. Pakistan continuously leverages its diplomatic weight to turn global consensus into concrete security frameworks. Pakistan voted firmly in favor of the UN Security Council Resolution on the Gaza Peace Plan.
Guided by the consensus of the Arab-Islamic grouping, Pakistan backed the initiative to enforce an immediate ceasefire, stop the bloodshed, protect civilians, secure a full Israeli withdrawal, and unlock massive humanitarian aid corridors. During high-level UNSC votes, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative explicitly argued that transitional oversight mechanisms must remain temporary. Pakistan insists that permanent executive and administrative authority in Gaza must remain strictly with Palestinians via the Palestinian Authority. Pakistan continues to champion the permanent admission of Palestine as a full member state of the United Nations. It asserts that the right to self-determination is inherent, unconditional, and cannot be subjected to external political bargains. This constructive, stabilizing diplomacy has been openly lauded by core regional partners, including Saudi Arabia, which commended Pakistan’s active engagements in neutralizing regional flashpoints. At every major forum, including High-Level UNSC Briefings on Palestine, Pakistan maintains that the unresolved question of Palestine is the absolute root cause of all instability across the Middle East.
Islamabad argues that a credible, irreversible, and time bound process toward a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders is the only viable pathway to achieve lasting peace for all regional actors. Pakistan has transitioned from a traditional state of solidarity into a visible, dynamic mediator working to de-escalate wider regional proxy wars.
Amidst severe regional escalations threatening global energy lanes, Pakistan stepped into a prominent diplomatic role. By maintaining deep institutional trusts, Pakistan actively hosted and facilitated critical, quiet diplomatic pathways between the United States and Iran in Islamabad to mitigate broader war risks.
Pakistan maintains that lasting Middle East peace requires a just resolution to the Palestine issue, a position characterized by consistent opposition to illegal occupations and support for self-determination across successive governments. Pakistan’s rising diplomatic relevance provides it with greater moral and political space to advocate for a just solution to the Palestine issue. This credibility of Pakistan stems from consistent reliance on peaceful means, diplomacy and international legality rather than coercion or unilateralism.
By promoting restraint and de-escalation over regional bloc politics, Islamabad has strengthened its reputation as a responsible actor and a credible, mediating voice within the Muslim world which has immense potential to seek a peaceful and just solution of Palestine issue.
