LAHORE – Several famous cars and SUVs struggle to gain attention, sitting quietly in dealerships despite big expectations from manufacturers. The recent data shows diverse trend as Pakistan automotive industry shows recovery, with sizeable increase in both production and sales for the first ten months of 2025-26 fiscal year.
According to the latest industry data, total passenger car sales jumped to 127,042 units, a staggering 52% increase compared to the 83,401 units sold during the same period last year.

Suzuki Alto remains undisputed leader of Pakistani roads. Dominating entry level market, Alto saw its sales climb from 33,560 units last year to 48,832 units in FY 2025-26. This model alone accounts for nearly 38% of the total passenger car market, underscoring the high demand for fuel-efficient, entry-level vehicles amidst fluctuating petrol prices.
Suzuki Every has effectively replaced the veteran Bolan. The Every recorded 6,661 sales this year, while the Bolan’s production and sales have been phased out. The 1300cc and above category, a key indicator of middle-class purchasing power, saw cumulative sales rise to 66,997 units, up from 40,369 in the previous year.
Toyota Corolla, Yaris led the segment with 30,496 units sold, maintaining its reputation for reliability. Honda City and Civic followed with 19,870 units, showing a strong recovery in the executive sedan space.
Suzuki Swift also recorded a sharp increase, with sales more than doubling to 13,752 units.
The most aggressive growth was witnessed in the Jeep and Pickup segment, which grew by nearly 39% year-on-year.
Haval (Sazgar) emerged as a powerhouse in the local market, selling 14,772 units compared to 8,531 last year. Hyundai Tucson doubled its production footprint to meet rising demand, though sales were slightly lower than production at 3,979 units.
Toyota Fortuner & IMVs: Maintained steady growth with 7,147 units sold.
The commercial sector also reflected the broader economic uptick. Trucks Production doubled from 3,318 to 6,174 units, led primarily by Isuzu and Master.
While major players like Honda and Suzuki showed consistent performance, United Auto Motorcycles remained a high-volume leader in the bike segment, producing over 138,000 units so far this fiscal year.
Electric Vehicle (EV) segment also shows early signs of life. The Dewan Honri-Ve saw its sales more than double from 132 units last year to 293 units in FY26, suggesting a slow but steady consumer interest in sustainable mobility.
