DUBAI – All UAE citizens and residents, including Pakistani nationals, must maintain an updated Emirates ID, as it is essential for accessing government services, banking, and travel.
Since the card is required for legal residency, failure to keep it current can lead to fines or legal issues.
Renewal Timeline
The Emirates ID can be renewed up to six months before its expiry or after it has expired. If renewed more than one month after expiry, a late fee of AED 20 per day applies, capped at AED 1,000.
Where to Apply
Renewals are handled by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP) via Customer Happiness Centres or the smart services system on the ICP website and mobile app (Apple and Android).
Emirates ID Renewal Fee
The cost of renewing an Emirates ID depends on the card’s validity and the urgency of the service. For a standard ID with a five-year validity, the renewal fee is AED 100, while a 10-year validity card carries a fee of AED 200. Citizens who require urgent processing can have their ID renewed for AED 150.
