KARACHI – Power utility K-Electric has announced that load-shedding will not be carried out in any locality where the “feels-like” temperature reaches 45 degrees Celsius amid the ongoing heatwave.
K-Electric’s Head of Distribution Operations, Khurram Abdullah, said the decision has been taken to provide relief to citizens during extreme weather conditions. He added that all maintenance shutdowns have been suspended due to the prevailing heatwave.
He further stated that if the apparent temperature in any area rises to 45°C, uninterrupted power supply will be ensured in that locality.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot and dry weather in Karachi over the next 24 hours, with sea breezes remaining subdued.
According to weather data, Turbat and Mithi recorded the highest temperatures at 45°C on Monday. Temperatures in Karachi, Sukkur, Sibi, Lasbela and Thatta were recorded at 44°C, while Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Bahawalpur saw highs of 40°C.
Lahore recorded 37°C, Islamabad and Quetta 34°C, and Peshawar 33°C.
