KARACHI – The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced major and strict reform for government employees by deciding to implement modern facial recognition-based attendance system across all hospitals in the northwestern region.
Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued clear directives instructing all District Health Officers and Medical Superintendents (MS) to ensure immediate implementation of the system. The registration of all employees and the completion of their facial data has been made mandatory, and this data will also be shared at the district level.
It has further been said that a modern biometric attendance system along with facial recognition technology will be fully implemented across all departments of the health sector. To ensure transparency and proper enforcement, an independent monitoring unit will be established. This unit will continuously supervise the implementation process and regularly submit progress reports to the Health Department.
The primary objective of this new system is to ensure transparency in health facilities and to guarantee employee attendance, which is expected to significantly reduce absenteeism and improve healthcare services for patients.
The official notification also includes a strong warning that any delay, negligence, or failure in implementing the new attendance system will result in strict departmental action against the responsible officials.
This decision is being seen as major transformation in the province’s healthcare governance system, aimed at strengthening accountability, improving monitoring, and ensuring better service delivery in public hospitals.
