KARACHI – The commissioner of Karachi has granted permission to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to set up livestock markets at five locations across the city ahead of Eidul Azha 2026.
Pakistan is set to observe the Eidul Adha, when Muslims offer sacrifice of animals to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), this month of May 2026.
The administration has issued an official notification, announcing give designated places to set up temporary cattle markets to facilitate citizens.
Karachi Cattle Markets Locations
According to the official notification, the markets will be established at Sunday Bazaar in North Karachi, KMC Ground, Safari Park, and Gulistan-e-Johar Blocks 5 and 6. Additionally, temporary markets for goat trading will be arranged on vacant plots in Lyari and Korangi.
The approval comes after KMC had requested permission from the Commissioner to set up livestock markets at a total of 11 locations.
The move aims to facilitate safe and organized trading of animals while minimizing congestion and disruptions in residential areas.
Officials have indicated that the markets will follow proper arrangements for both vendors and buyers, ensuring smooth operations during the designated periods.
Pakistani citizens are now gearing up for the upcoming Islamic month of Zilhaj as it decides the dates of the Eidul Adha 2026 across the country.
Last month, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced the sighting of Zilqad moon and the first day of the Islamic month was observed on April 19, 2026.
This announcement has set the date for the next meeting of the moon sighting committee for the month of Zilhaj.
The committee will meet on 29 Zilqad, which corresponds to 17 May 2026, when the crescent moon for Islamic month of Zilhaj will be observed.
Expected Date of Eidul Adha 2026
If the moon is sighted on May 17, Zilhaj will begin on Monday, May 18 and Eidul Adha would be observed on May 27-29 across Pakistan.
If the moon is not sighted and Zilqad complete 30 days, the month of Zilhaj will begin on Tuesday, May 19 and the Eid would be celebrated from May 28-30.
