JOHANNESBURG – South African top-order batter Rassie van der Dussen has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a notable career at the highest level.
Van der Dussen confirmed his decision through social media, where he also shared an emotional message reflecting on his journey in international cricket. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received while representing South Africa.

The right-handed batter made his international debut on October 9, 2018, in a T20 International against Zimbabwe. He quickly cemented his place in the side and went on to become a regular feature across all three formats.
Over the course of his career, van der Dussen represented South Africa in 57 T20 Internationals, 71 One Day Internationals, and 18 Test matches. His last international appearance came on August 16, 2025, against Australia.
Renowned for his consistency and calm approach under pressure, van der Dussen played several impactful innings for his team. One of the standout performances of his career came during the 2023 Cricket World Cup, when he scored a superb 133-run century against New Zealand.
He also achieved the milestone of scoring a century in the Pakistan Super League, further highlighting his ability to perform in franchise cricket as well.
