Trump Says Iran Wants A Deal Hints At Progress In Nuclear Talks

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Iran is seeking a deal, saying the country wants to avoid facing the consequences of failing to reach an agreement.

President Trump said he would remain indirectly involved in the nuclear negotiations, describing the discussions as “extremely important” for regional and global security.

He was speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Tuesday.

The ongoing negotiations mark a critical phase in US-Iran relations and are being closely watched for their potential impact on regional stability and global security.

Senior aides Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have already traveled to Geneva, where the US and Iranian delegations are set to engage in the second round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump characterized the Iranian negotiators as “tough dealmakers” but expressed hope that they would demonstrate more flexibility compared to last year. The previous year’s talks had collapsed, prompting the US to carry out targeted strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

When asked about the broader Middle East situation and the upcoming Board of Peace summit, Trump said the process would extend beyond Gaza and stressed the importance of the Board working in coordination with the United Nations.

On Israel’s restrictions on foreign media in Gaza, Trump avoided a direct response but indicated that many sanctions could be lifted soon. He added, “You will see things opening up. There are sparks here and there, but overall, there is peace in the Middle East.”
