LAHORE – An arm of an eight-year-old boy was amputated after he was seriously injured in an attack by a pet lion in an area of Lahore, it emerged on Saturday.
Reports said the incident took place at the Dolla Breeding Farms located at the 80-Foot Road in Sabzazar area of the provincial capital.
The incident took place due to improper arrangements at the lion enclosure and negligence of the owners.
Initially, the owners of the breeding farm tried to cover up the attack, telling hospital staff that the boy’s injuries were caused by his hand getting caught in a machine. However, medical professionals quickly determined that the injuries were the result of an animal attack.
To save the boy’s life, doctors had no choice but to amputate his arm. Upon learning the true nature of the incident, police investigators, led by the SP of Iqbal Town, launched a probe into the matter.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran immediately responded to the incident, instructing authorities to take strict legal action against those responsible. The investigation led police to a private facility, the Dolla breeding farm, where the attack occurred.
The police revealed that the attack was caused by the farm’s inadequate safety measures and the owners’ disregard for regulations surrounding the handling of wild animals. The owners were arrested soon after the investigation began.
The injured boy was transferred to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for further treatment and specialized care.
This is the second pet lion attack incident in three days as a minor girl sustained injuries near her head and ears in the attack.
