ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to immediately halt the cutting of trees in the federal capital.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro issued the directive while hearing a petition filed by a citizen, Muhammad Naveed Ahmed, challenging the felling of trees.
The court expressed concern over the environmental impact of the activity and sought explanations from the relevant authorities.
Notices were issued to the CDA, the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), and the Ministry of Climate Change, directing them to submit their responses.
The court further ordered all respondents to file clause-wise replies along with a comprehensive report by February 2.
The hearing was adjourned till the next date.
