Record Crowd Of Cricket Fans Witnesses Boxing Day Ashes Test At Mcg

MELBOURNE – A record number of cricket fans attended the opening day of the Boxing Day Test of the Ashes series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), setting a new benchmark for single-day attendance at the iconic venue.

The Cricket Australia said that the first day of the Australia versus England Boxing Day Test surpassed the attendance record of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup final.

A total of 93,442 spectators were present at the MCG on the opening day, exceeding the 93,013 fans who attended the World Cup final in 2015.

On the field, Australia were bowled out for 152 runs in their first innings. In response, England’s batting lineup also struggled and was dismissed for 110 runs, making it a low-scoring and action-packed opening day of the Test match.
