The shift is most visible in SUV segment, where customers now enjoy plethora of options from Japanese, Korean, and Chinese brands. Analysts say these limited-time offers have now become a survival strategy for auto companies in an increasingly competitive market.

Director of Research at Topline Securities, explains, “Earlier, only three Japanese companies dominated, and SUVs weren’t common. Now, almost every brand has an SUV, and customers have dozens of choices.”
Car sales in December are usually half of other months, while January sees a surge. Some vehicles booked in November-December are delivered only in the new year. Companies are leveraging this to push sales, improve short-term revenue, and attract buyers before old models lose resale value.
