Online Ride Hailing Company Under Scrutiny Over Passenger Harassment Allegation

ISLAMABAD – Federal Ombudsperson for the Prevention of Harassment has sought a complete record of harassment complaints received from passengers against drivers of an online ride-sharing company over the past three years.

Reports said Fozia Waqar, the Federal Ombudsperson, issued strict instructions to an online taxi service company, seeking a report within seven days. The report should include information on whether the company has an inquiry committee in place and provide details of its internal process for handling harassment complaints.

The company’s safety system is currently under review following allegations of harassment. The Ombudsperson has also requested the company to submit an implementation report.

The harassment complaint arose after a female passenger accused a driver of making inappropriate remarks and driving the vehicle in the wrong direction.

The company’s anti-harassment system is being thoroughly examined in light of these events.
