ISLAMABAD – Authorities have announced plans to install 30 free Wi-Fi hotspots in Islamabad by December 2025 to improve public internet access.
This initiative aims to enhance digital infrastructure and provide easy access to high-speed internet for citizens, students, and employees.
The National Telecommunications Corporation (NTC) briefed the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information Technology, confirming that the project is progressing quickly and that the hotspots will be operational within the set timeframe.
Under the plan, free Wi-Fi will be available at key locations in the federal capital, including major markets, public spaces, and government buildings.
Officials emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader government policy to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure.
Currently, NTC provides internet, communication, and cybersecurity services to over 3,000 government and private institutions in more than 100 cities across Pakistan.
The government envisions making Islamabad the country’s first fully “Free Wi-Fi City” in the future, further expanding access to digital services.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has pledged to support NTC in the completion of the project, with NTC overseeing the operation and maintenance of the system.
