INDIAN army chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday issued a pointed warning to Pakistan, comparing the brief May conflict to a “trailer” rather than a full-length film.
Delivering a speech at a defence conference in New Delhi, Gen Dwivedi said, “I’d like to say that the movie hasn’t even started — only a trailer was shown, and, after the trailer, it was over within 88 hours.“ He also boasted that India was fully prepared for the future and if Pakistan provided it an opportunity then India would like to provide them with a thorough education on how a responsible nation should behave with its neighbours.
It is regrettable that despite repeated peace overtures from Pakistan, India’s civil and military leadership continues to harp on the same old anti-Pakistan narrative threatening peace and security of the region. It is known to all that it was not Pakistan, which initiated hostilities in May, rather India carried out a false flag operation at Pahalgam and used it as an excuse to invade Pakistan. Indian leaders seemed to be power drunk as they carried out aggression on the assumption they will bring Pakistan on its knees but received a response, which they will not forget for decades. The Indian army chief’s remarks that the May was a mere trailer are nothing but hollow slogans as professional worth of the Indian army stood exposed to the entire world and the humiliation it received at the hands of valiant Pakistan defence forces has dented its image beyond repairs. If what India did was a mere trailer then why did it rush to the world powers and begged for a ceasefire? Why did it conceal the war losses from its people and later acknowledged them in tit-bits? As against this, Pakistan demonstrated its muscles and professional excellence and its war accounts are confirmed by independent regional and global sources including President Donald Trump, who keeps on reminding India of the bitter taste it got in May on different occasions. Pakistan achieved successes against India despite limited use of technology and military assets/systems and it has the capability to defend itself and inflict unimaginable harm on the aggressor.
