Pakistan Shaheens thrashed the United Arab Emirates in their last group fixture of the Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Doha, on Tuesday afternoon.
Irfan Khan-led Shaheens won three matches on the trot, securing a semi-final berth on the back of Maaz Sadaqat’s three player-of-the-match awards. The two semi-finals of the tournament will be played on Friday, November 21.
After opting to bat first, the UAE lost their opening batters within the first two overs. Sohaib Khan fell to a spectacular catch by skipper Irfan off Ahmed Daniyal to make it 15-3, which soon became 24-4 in seven overs.
Maaz then removed UAE’s top-scorer Syed Haider (20) in the 10th over as they lost six wickets for 17 runs from thereon. Sufyan Moqim returned figures of 4-0-12-3, while Maaz and Daniyal picked up two wickets each.
In turn, Shaheens raced to the target in 5.2 overs with Maaz striking four fours and three sixes to end up unbeaten on 37 off 15 balls, taking his tally of runs in the tournament to 212 in three outings. Maaz and Ghazi Ghori stitched an unbeaten 54-run stand to take Shaheens home.
