ISLAMABAD – Mainly dry weather is predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night and during the weekend with a gradual decrease in the mercury levels.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. Under these conditions, mainly dry weather is predicted in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan, while cold in hilly areas on Friday night and during the weekend.
Smog with shallow fog in patches may develop over a few plain areas of Punjab. Persistent dryness and clear sky will cause further decrease in the temperatures.
Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 04°C and 06°C on Monday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 09°C and 11°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 08°C and 10°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, dry weather persisted in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Cold weather prevailed in the upper parts of the country. However, smog prevailed over a few plain areas of Punjab.
Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan, where the mercury dropped 06°C below the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Skardu was recorded at -04°C, in Babusar and Astore at -03°C, in Gupis, Kalam and Ziarat at -02°C, and in Chitral, Dir, Gilgit and Quetta at -01°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 06°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 54 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 52 per cent.
