Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Athar Minallah was cleared of any symptoms of coronavirus on Friday by a team of doctors that had conducted tests of six members of the IHC Chief Justice’s office to ascertain if they were suffering from the virus or not.
A day earlier, a senior official of the chief justice’s court had tested positive for Covid-19 after which the IHC administration had asked the health department for conducting tests of the judges and court staff.
A team of doctors had reached the IHC with 25 testing kits to conduct tests of the court officials, judges, staff, etc. On Friday, according to the reports, the chief justice, his reader, two personal secretaries, a personal assistant and a Naib Qasid were pronounced free of coronavirus and were allowed to resume their duties. Tests of the rest of the judges, courts staff and officials of various branches of the IHC are in the pipeline and will be completed in next three to four working days, said an official of the court. According to an official of the IHC, the hon’ble chief justice and his court’s staff felt it obligatory to undergo coronavirus tests so that they as well as the lawyers and the litigants who daily visited the court to attend various hearings might be saved from virus.
