ISLAMABAD – The federal government has removed Waqaruddin Syed as director general of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) following the arrest of several officials facing serious allegations.
The Establishment Division has issued a notification in this regard. The outgoing DG has been instructed to report back to the Establishment Division.
In his place, Syed Khurram Ali, a senior police officer of Grade 21 from the Police Service of Pakistan, has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
Prior to this appointment, Khurram Ali was serving under the Punjab government and has now been called back to the federal setup to lead the agency.
The Establishment Division has issued formal notifications regarding these transfers and appointments.
