Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mehmood Khan Sunday termed the approval of provincial cabinet for setting up the ‘Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Grid and Transmission Company (KP GTC) as an important step of the present provincial government and said that with the establishment of this first ever company of its kind at the provincial level, the provincial government will be able to have its own system and infrastructure for the transmission and distribution of its power production, whereas presently, the provincial government solely relies on the national grid and transmission system for the distribution of its power production.
In a statement to this effect issued here on Sunday, the Chief Minister termed the cabinet approval as a historic decision and said that the establishment of the company would facilitate the provincial government to transmit its power production to national grid as well as to the local consumers adding that it will prove to be a milestone achievement for making the province self- reliant both in power production as well as power distribution infrastructure.
It may well be re-called that the provincial cabinet had nodded to the establishment of the aforesaid company it its last meeting held the other day. ‘The establishment of the company will help provide low cost electricity to the local industries and other commercial consumers which will boost economic activities’, Mahmood khan stated adding that it will ultimately create employment opportunities in the province.
