NEW DEHLI – Kagiso Rabada, South African fast bowler, suddenly left the Indian Premier League (IPL) and returned to his homeland, the local media reported on Friday.

Rabada was representing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, and he played two matches before unexpectedly flying back to South Africa.

The Gujarat Titans had acquired the services of Rabada during the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 10.75 crore.

On Thursday, the Gujarat Titans franchise officially announced Rabada’s departure from the league and his return home.

According to the media reports, the franchise said in a statement that Rabada returned to South Africa due to the personal reasons. He was part of the team for the first two matches of the season but had to leave to attend to an important personal matter.

The franchise did not disclose the further details regarding Rabada’s sudden exit nor did it comment on the possibility of his return.

Rabada made his debut for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings, where he took 1 wicket for 41 runs in 4 overs. He then played against Mumbai Indians, conceded 42 runs and took 1 wicket.

It may be mentioned here that Rabada made his IPL debut in 2017. He previously played for Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.

Rabada took 119 wickets in 82 IPL matches so far.
