209 new corona cases among 77 in slums detected: Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 209 new cases of coronavirus have emerged during the last 24 hours, of them 132 are from Tableeghi Jamaat and 77 are particularly from katchiabadis in Karachi.
In his video message by which he reached out to people of Sindh and overseas Pakistanis said that during last 24 four hours (from 8 am to 8 am of April 16 & 17), he said that 2,372 tests were conducted, of them 209 new cases detected. The tests conducted so far come to 21272 which resulted in 2217 positive cases.
Shah disclosed that two more coronavirus patients had died due to infection. The number of deaths so far has reached to 47 which is 2.1 percent, he said and added 1,589 patients were still under treatment including 872 in home isolation, 469 at isolation centers and 248 in hospitals.He said that five patients recovered completely and sent back to their homes with a certificate of recovery.
He added that 581 patients have recovered so far which was 26 percent of the patients. The chief minister said there were 4692, of them 4653 have been tested.
According to results,429 have been diagnosed as positive while 91 results were awaited.He said that the coronavirus positive [patients] of Tableeghi Jamaat have been kept in isolation, therefore they would not be able to spread the virus and added those who were positive and roaming here and there were like a bomb to affect anybody.
Meanwhile, the chief minister in order to face the worst situation has ordered establishment of 10,000-bed field hospitals all over Sindh.The provincial government has set up 185-bed CCU equipped with ventilators in different hospitals.
This emerged on Friday in a meeting here at CM House. The meeting was attended by Minister Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, Secretary Health Zahid Abbasi, CM Focul person on coronavirus Najam Shah, Adl Secretary health Fayaz Abbasi and MB Dharejo.The chief minister said that the number of coronavirus patients was on the increase as the tests have been geared up. Therefore, he said the provincial government must prepare to establish field hospitals in every district.
It was pointed out that a newly constructed school in Tando Mohammad Khan has a capacity to house at least 50 patients. At this the chief minister directed education department to hand over the new school building, is yet to be commissioned, for field hospital.
He approved to establish a 50-beded hospital within a week.A 100-beded similar unit would be set up at Matiari. A new hospital building has been completed in Tando Allahyar.
