Under the directives of Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Water Corporation has effectively addressed 841 of the 1,305 complaints regarding open manholes. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) has set a proactive approach to handling complaints. A report revealed that the Complaint Management Center’s helpline1334, received 1,305 reports about open manholes, of which 841 have already been resolved.
In addition, from 399 complaints about broken manholes, 200 have been successfully addressed, restoring functionality to the city’s sewage system. Efforts are actively underway to resolve the remaining 30 percent of issues. According to a spokesperson for the KW&SC, complaints were received from various neighborhoods, including Safora Town, Orangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gadap, among others. Citizens can report their issues at any time by calling helpline number 1334. It was also emphasized that Mayor Karachi is personally overseeing the progress on a daily basis to ensure timely resolutions. Officials reiterated their commitment to providing enhanced services to residents, stating that fulfilling the needs of citizens remains a top priority for the administration.
