An important meeting chaired by Faryal Talpur, President of PPP Women’s Wing and Chairperson of the Sindh Assembly’s Standing Committee on Home Affairs. The meeting, which was held at Zardari House on Saturday, was attended by Sindh’s Home Minister, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar, and IG Prisons, Qazi Nazir.
The discussions during the meeting primarily focused on the welfare of female prisoners in Sindh jails. Key deliberations included the welfare of incarcerated women, their children, and juvenile prisoners.
Faryal Talpur emphasized the need for immediate measures to ensure the well-being of women prisoners, their children, and young inmates. She stated, “It is essential that we take immediate steps to improve the living conditions and rehabilitation of female prisoners and their children.” Talpur urged women members of the assembly to play an active role in ensuring the welfare of female prisoners and their children. She added that modern correctional programs could truly transform prisons into rehabilitative spaces, fostering the reform and well-being of prisoners.
