Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid on Wednesday visited the ZABTech office here in Azam Town area of the city where Executive Director of the institute Waheeda Mahesar accorded warm welcome.
Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized on providing technical and vocational training to deserving women and their children.
She said that Government wants to economically empower people belonging to poor and backward section of the society through skill training so that not only there would be a significant development in the country’s industry and trade but also skilled youth could get employment opportunities at home and abroad.
Senator Rubina Khalid, while interacting with the students undergoing different training course such as Beautician, Fashion designing, Culinary Art, Kitchen Making, Industrial Stitching, Welding and Electrician, wished that they would start their own business by learning various technical and artistic skills and improve the economic conditions of their families.
She stated that Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto had said that skill was a capital which no one can take away.
She stressed the importance of bringing innovation in the sectors related to the fashion industry and producing products according to the market requirements. She also proposed to adopt innovation by inviting various dress designers of the country to improve the boutique industry.
Executive Director ZABTech Waheeda Mahesar briefed the Chairperson BISP about the various programs being conducted in the institution and said that Azam Town Center was providing training in 14 different technical and vocational skills to the underprivileged and poor children.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that career counseling sessions should also be started for those who are learning skills in different fields at the ZABTech center so that individuals receiving training from the center could get employment in the market according to their skills.—APP
