Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has underscored the importance of prioritizing humanity and road safety, stating that every effort must be made to prevent accidents and save lives. Speaking as the chief guest at the Consumer Road Safety Award ceremony in Karachi, Memon highlighted the nation’s shifting priorities, urging citizens to follow traffic rules to contribute to a safer society. Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit congratulated the Consumer Association of Pakistan for organizing the successful ceremony, praising their efforts in promoting road safety and saving lives.

He stressed the need to educate the public, especially children, about respecting traffic rules to prevent accidents caused by negligence and impatience. Memon called on the media to play an active role in raising awareness about road safety, emphasizing that traffic violations not only break the law but can also lead to tragic consequences.

He also pointed out the irresponsible behavior of some parents allowing young children to drive, which reflects poor judgment and carelessness.

Acknowledging the dedication of traffic police personnel, Memon expressed admiration for their hard work under challenging conditions, standing for long hours in extreme weather to ensure public safety. He honored the police officers as national heroes for their commitment to protecting lives. In line with efforts to address environmental concerns, the minister announced a new initiative by the Sindh government: the launch of an eco-friendly electric vehicle (EV) taxi service. This service, the first of its kind in the region, aims to reduce pollution while providing new job opportunities.

Memon emphasized that this initiative aligns with the directives of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Chief Minister Sindh to expand mass transit services. At the event, Memon presented shields to traffic police officers and members of the Consumer Association of Pakistan in recognition of their contributions to enhancing road safety in the province.
