Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that unity of all political parties was need of the hour to effectively face the situation created by the Covid-19.
Addressing the bloggers attached to different institutions via video link, he said that collective political approach could go a long way in finding out solution of every problem. He said there should not be any point scoring.
Sirajul Haq said that lack of harmony among political leaders in the country in this hour of crisis was a tragedy and the government itself should contact the all political parties. The JI chief said that people from all walks of life including businessmen and government employees had been knocked down because of the deadly virus and it was time that the government took correct decisions.
Hinting towards the weaknesses in the system of distribution of funds under the Ehsah programme, Sirajul Haq called for providing direct subsidy to the poor including waving utility bills of electricity, gas and water, for three months.
He said that harvest of wheat had started but the Atta mafia was hovering around in a bid to purchase wheat from the growers at throw away prices.
He stressed upon the government to review the oppressive measures adopted by the Sugar and Atta mafia within its own ranks. He further said that the Prime Minister’s statement that there was possibility of wheat smuggling from the country indicated that the atta and sugar mafia was stronger than the Premier.
