The Global Research & Studies Center (GRSC) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted a distinguished event on Tuesday to launch Dr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey’s book, The Currency of Influence: Economic Diplomacy and Public Perception through Public Diplomacy.
The event brought together diplomats, academics, and industry experts to delve into the evolving significance of public diplomacy. Ambassador G. R. Baluch, Director of GRSC, moderated the launch, guiding an engaging discussion on the book’s themes. Ambassadors M. Alam Brohi and Hasan Habib offered in-depth reviews, appreciating the book’s contribution to the field of diplomacy.
Talib S. Karim, President of IoBM, highlighted the crucial role of soft diplomacy in fostering academic and cultural connections, acknowledging the ongoing challenges Pakistan’s diplomats face due to economic constraints. He announced that the book would be added to IoBM’s library collection, positioning it as a valuable resource for students pursuing careers in diplomacy and international relations. Ambassador Baluch praised The Currency of Influence as an essential case study for foreign service professionals, applauding Ambassador Sirohey’s innovative approaches to diplomacy, shaped by his extensive career.
In his address, Dr. Sirohey shared insights from his own diplomatic journey, emphasizing the pivotal role of public diplomacy in shaping public opinion and winning hearts. He recounted his experiences in Niger, where initiatives such as celebrating Eid with orphans and promoting women’s empowerment played a significant part in advancing soft diplomacy.
