Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, met Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul on Tuesday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation.
“Met Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi Monday. Held wide-ranging discussions. Agreed to work together to further strengthen bilateral cooperation as well as for peace and progress in the region,” a post by Ambassador Sadiq said on X.
A day prior, Sadiq had also held a meeting with the Afghan Acting Minister of Interior Sirajuddin Haqqani in Kabul.
“Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields to further enhance the fraternal relations between the two countries,” the post said.
The visiting delegation conveyed condolences on behalf of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, his deputy, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding the martyrdom of Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani. They expressed deep sympathy to the martyr’s family and the Afghan nation and prayed for his soul’s forgiveness.
Pakistan’s Special Representative, Sadiq Khan, conveyed his heartfelt sorrow over the martyrdom of Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani. In his remarks, he stated: “We are steadfast in our commitment to addressing the challenges between Afghanistan and Pakistan through collective efforts, with the aim of fostering stronger economic and societal bonds between our two nations.”
Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani welcomed the visiting delegation and highlighted the religious, cultural, and historical commonalities between the two neighboring nations.
He emphasized: “The present moment calls for swift and united action to address security and political challenges, ensuring that the ties between our two nations remain unshaken and paving the way for lasting regional stability and progress.”
As the meeting concluded, both sides underscored the vital importance of sustained cooperation and mutual understanding to further strengthen and enhance the relations.
