The Pakistan Customs on Monday arrested two accused and seized narcotics from their possession.
The Anti Smuggling Organization Model Customs Collectorate Preventive Karachi intercepted a van at RCD Highway and recovered 1835 grams of brown colour heroin powder, 765 grams crystal and also seized the vehicle, informed the spokesman to Pakistan Customs.
Approximate value of total seizure is Rs. 27 million. Two accused have been arrested and a case has been registered. The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had last year seized over six tons of hashish and 100 kilograms of heroin from a container at Port Qasim. The drugs were being smuggled to Belgium. Police said they had arrested three men for attempting to smuggle the narcotics, valued at over Rs1,000 million in the international market.
ANF officials began a search of containers at the Port Qasim berth after receiving a tip-off about the shipment. During the search, they found the drugs packed inside a container filled with crates of bed sheets. The Customs also claimed to have recovered 800 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as meth, from the luggage of some passengers at the Jinnah International Airport.
