The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) confirmed that the water supply across the city continues without disruption and has been fully restored in all areas such as Clifton, PIB Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sakhi Hassan, Keamari, Lyari, and other localities are receiving uninterrupted water supply from distribution and pumping stations.
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) in a press statement issued on Sunday said that Karachi currently requires 1,200 million gallons of water per day (MGD), but the system is supplying only 650 MGD. This includes 550 MGD from Dhabeji Pumping Station, 30 MGD from Gharo Pumping Station, and 70 MGD from the Hub Canal, distributed equitably throughout the city.
The water and sewerage corporation refuted claims that pipeline water is diverted to water tankers. Of the 650 MGD, only 15 to 18 MGD is provided through government hydrants to the public at subsidised rates.
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) deemed halting water tanker operations illegal and unethical, emphasising that tankers serve critical needs, including mosques, Imambargahs, hospitals, schools, government institutions, and community water tanks. They warned against taking the law into one’s own hands and promised strict action against anyone challenging the authority of the state or its institutions.Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) highlighted that vandalising government property during protests is illegal and unacceptable.
