KARACHI – Pakistani Bank Customers have been urged to follow security steps for safe use of Debit cards, after recent incident as some customers lost their money after allegedly using third party applications on their mobile phone.
As the alleged security breach became talk of the town, Meezan Bank addressed the buzz about illegal transactions. In an official statement, the commercial bank reassured customers that there have been no data breaches, and that their personal information remains fully secure.
The Karachi-based Bank cleared that its cards are compliant with EMV tech and 3D Secure standards, explaining that disputed transactions occurred due to unsecured e-commerce activities, which are being addressed through chargeback mechanism of international payment systems.
Meanwhile, customers have been requested to take precautionary measures when making online transactions.
- Only make payments on known platforms and avoid using Debit Cards on untrusted sites
- Avoid doing transactions using public Wi-Fi
- Keep an eye on attempts via mail, or SMS asking for card details or OTPs
- Make sure to report lost/stolen cards at the earliest
The Bank further reassured users that they can confidently use their cards on trusted websites and continue to enjoy the convenience of cashless transactions.
