LAHORE – It is legal requirement for Pakistan nationals to obtain a driving license from the competent authority in order to ride car or jeep on roads.
They can fines or legal action in absence of the driving license as the Punjab traffic police have intensified a campaign against those who are driving cars without the license.
As per the rules, the applicant is first issued a learner permit and later he/she take the theoretical and practical tests to get a valid driving license.
The government also receives a certain amount in wake of fee to issue the driving license.
Earlier this year the Punjab government announced massive hike in the fees of for all kinds of driving licenses in all cities of Punjab, including Lahore and Rawalpindi.
The fee structure was revised by the administration after a gap of 20 years. It jacked up the fees of learner license, car+motorcycle license and others.
Learner Permit Fee from December 2024
The provincial government charges Rs500 for issuance of learner permit for cars or jeeps.
Car, Jeep Valid Driving License Fee
The government has set fee for car or jeep driving license at Rs1,800 every year. Previously, the fee for car, jeep driving license was Rs950 for five-year driving license.
