The Sindh High Court heard the case concerning the smuggling of children and document falsification. During the proceedings, Deputy Attorney General Abdul Hamid Siddiqui opposed the granting of bail, asserting that the case involved serious charges of child trafficking, which should not be taken lightly. The government’s lawyer informed the court that the case had been initiated after a complaint from the United States, leading to action against the accused. It was revealed that each child was smuggled to the United States for a sum of $6,000.
The investigating officer requested additional time to submit a response, and due to the absence of the petitioner’s lawyer, the hearing was postponed for two weeks. The accused, Sarim Burney, was arrested at Karachi Airport upon his return from the United States. The petitioner has filed a plea, claiming that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been using delaying tactics in the trial process. The petitioner also requested the court to expedite the proceedings, as the case has been delayed. The petition further emphasized that the children allegedly smuggled are currently residing in Karachi, and Sarim Burney deserves to be granted bail. The case will be reviewed again in two weeks.
