ISLAMABAD – Several customers of Meezan Bank have claimed that they lost their money in unauthorized transcation on their debit cards in possible latest data breach. The bank has however refused claims of any data breach.
Reports said the customers took to online platforms, stating that the unauthorized transactions were made in Malaysian currency before being converted into Pak rupee.
They said the purchases were made from their debit cards through Facebook and other online platforms.
What the Bank Says
An official of the Meezan Bank told a local media outlet that there is no any kind of data breach on their side, saying everything in protected.
The official added that the customers, who fell victim to unauthorized transaction, might have provided their data on such websites of apps that require no OTP verification for completing payment process.
He clarified that such activities had nothing do with Meezan Bank and cannot be called a data breach on its end.
Meezan Bank said he had received some complaints on this matter in past days, adding that it had compensated the customers who lost their money after losing their data to websites and apps that do not use OTP verification payment.
