Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has highlighted December as a month of remembrance for Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) organizing events to honor her legacy. Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he also expressed grief over the Greek boat tragedy and urged swift federal action against human traffickers. On governance and development, Memon announced the implementation of new SOPs for vehicle fitness, effective December 1.
These include issuing barcoded fitness certificates to curb counterfeit documentation and enhance road safety. “Ensuring public safety is our primary duty,” he stated, adding that support from police and awareness campaigns would strengthen compliance. Memon shared positive developments regarding Chinese investment, including commitments to expand the EV taxi initiative and invest in various sectors such as energy and trading.
He underscored Sindh’s appeal as an investment hub, citing incentives like a ten-year tax exemption at the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. Highlighting public projects, he noted the first phase of the Malir Expressway’s launch to ease Karachi’s traffic woes, rapid progress on the K-4 water supply project, and ongoing construction of two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. Discussing health, he praised the polio eradication efforts led by Asifa Bhutto Zardari and Faryal Talpur. Turning to national issues, Memon criticized the KP government for failing to address terrorism effectively, urging focus on citizen safety.
He reaffirmed PPP’s dedication to peaceful political progress and justice for Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. With initiatives aimed at youth employment, infrastructure, and social welfare, Memon emphasized that PPP remains committed to Pakistan’s development under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
