The Rahman Baba Express, traveling from Karachi to Peshawar, derailed at Drigh Road Station when three of its coaches went off the track, causing significant disruptions to railway services.
Railway officials attributed the incident to a broken coupler connecting the coaches. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among passengers.
The derailment temporarily blocked the mainline, halting train operations inland. After a two-hour delay, the down track was cleared, with Pakistan Express becoming the first train to resume operations. However, services on the up track experienced further delays, affecting trains such as Karakoram Express and Business Express.
Other services, including Allama Iqbal Express and Millat Express, also faced delays ranging from one to three hours. Efforts are underway to fully restore normal operations on the affected tracks. Railway authorities assured passengers that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure safety and minimize further delays.
