Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather; cold wave continues to prevail

ISLAMABAD – Cold waves will continue to prevail in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave is passing over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, cold and dry weather will likely persist in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan on Monday night and the next two days.

Very cold and partly cloudy to cloudy weather will prevail in hilly areas. Shallow to moderate fog (in patches) is likely at few places in northeast/south Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 00-02°C on Tuesday and 01-03°C on Wednesday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03°C on Tuesday and 02-04°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Extremely cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed in hilly areas. Shallow fog prevailed at few places in central/southern Punjab.

Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan where the temperature dropped 09°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Skardu was recorded at -07°C, Gilgit, Astore -06°C, Bagrote, Hunza -05°C, and Kalam at -04°C.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 01°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 56 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 02°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 31 per cent.
