The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi is taking bold strides toward environmental sustainability through a series of innovative green projects. These initiatives aim to reduce the institution’s carbon footprint while promoting renewable energy across its campuses and hostels.
A standout achievement is the introduction of solar-powered electric shuttles at the IBA Main Campus. These eco-friendly vehicles, fueled by the campus’s solar plant, provide a sustainable transportation option for students, faculty, and staff. This initiative not only aligns with IBA’s commitment to sustainability but also represents a transformative shift away from fossil fuels, fostering a cleaner and healthier environment. Adding to its green portfolio, IBA has installed a combined solar energy capacity of 926 kWp across its facilities. This includes an 826 kWp system at the Main Campus and recently completed solar projects of 200 kWp at the Boys Hostel and 100 kWp at the Girls Hostel. Collectively, these systems produce 1.235 million kWh of clean energy annually, cutting energy costs by 33% and significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Notably, the savings from these projects are reinvested in student scholarships, underlining IBA’s dual focus on environmental stewardship and community well-being. With these groundbreaking efforts, IBA Karachi is not only fostering a greener campus but also setting a national benchmark for educational institutions.
By championing renewable energy and innovative green practices, the institution is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future for Pakistan.
