Governor Sindh Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori has announced the commencement of the Karachi Tape Ball Premier League, scheduled to run from December 14 to December 29, 2024, at Moin Academy. Speaking at the league’s introductory press conference held at the Governor House, he shared that eight teams, including Karachi Knights, representing IT classes under the Governor Initiative, will participate.

“Tape ball cricket brings back childhood memories,” said the governor. “The lush green grounds of the Governor House are open for tape ball cricket. Come and play here!” He emphasized that the Governor House is now accessible for sports activities and other community programs. Highlighting other initiatives, Tessori stated, “We are conducting IT courses, distributing motorbikes, ration bags, and laptops.

The Governor House has welcomed millions of visitors, and anyone is free to visit.” He praised tape ball cricket as a platform to discover talent from local neighborhoods, potentially propelling players to national and international levels.

Tessori expressed his support for the league, organized by Badar Expo Solutions, and acknowledged the contributions of Zohaib Nasir, who has been pivotal in promoting and registering tape ball cricket events. Kamran Tessori added, “Both the Prime Minister and the Army Chief are keen on economic growth, and sports like this can play a role in community engagement.” Chairman KTPL, Zohair Naseer, speaking to the media, said,

“This tournament is an excellent opportunity for young players to showcase their skills. Our league has achieved international recognition.” The Karachi Tape Ball Premier League aims to blend nostalgia with talent development, marking a new chapter for local cricket enthusiasts.
