IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, on Friday chaired a review meeting on security arrangements for the upcoming polio eradication campaign. The meeting took place at the Central Police Office Karachi and was attended by key officials including the Additional IG Karachi, SSPs of South, City, AIGs, and Operations. The Zonal and Divisional DIGs, along with District SSPs, participated through video link. The polio campaign will begin on December 16, 2024, and IG Sindh directed that foolproof security arrangements be implemented during the campaign.
He emphasized that all SSPs would personally oversee the deployment, supervision, and security of the polio teams in their respective districts. IG Sindh further instructed the police to maintain continuous communication with district administration to address security concerns and other operational matters. Special focus was placed on ensuring access to polio teams in remote areas, particularly in Kacha areas, where some families refuse vaccination.
